A 10-year-old finds solace in his Rubik’s cubes. He often hides his obsession from his mother lest she gets annoyed. But the child continues to play - under the table or the bedsheet, while brushing or eating…hidden from his mother’s gaze. He finally solves the cube in under 10 seconds. This short film shows a child’s passion and the journey of pursuing it.
During the pandemic children’s frustrations, anxieties and fears had little outlet. While parents want to do the best for their kids, they sometimes unknowingly stifle their passion. I found myself no different. So this film was a reminder to us parents, who at times don’t give their children more space to follow their passion. My son had to be the lead, as he was the inspiration behind this story and neither of us had to act, as in many ways we were playing ourselves!
